GOX - Naughts and Crosses for Gnome

Screenshot GOX is a learning Naughts and Crosses (AKA Tic Tac Toe) program for GNOME.

The program starts off as a very weak player. It learns from its mistakes, and eventually plays well.

Intended for young kids who might be frustrated by a perfect player, and who will learn as the machine learns.

Now featuring an enhanced GUI, themes, a panel applet, and multiple windows. GOX can be used as a human v. computer game, or the computer can be played against itself as background eye-candy.

The current release is here.

Animation Note that to compile GOX, you will need the gdk-pixbuf library, which isn't part of RedHat Linux 6.1 and most other Linux distributions. If you install it from RPMs, you need both the base and development packages. (Alternatively, if you've updated to GNOME 1.2, then you'll have gdk-pixbuf installed.)

This web-site is hosted by the nice people at Source Forge. There is a summary page for this project. I have a non-home page that I'm too lazy to maintain, and an ex-home page from my previous life as an academic.
